Dr. Susan Meffert MD, MPH is a medically trained, adult psychiatrist recognized by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She attended Stanford University, where she obtained 2 bachelors and one masters degree, then completed her Medical Degree (MD) at the University of Iowa College of Medicine and her Masters of Public Health (MPH) at Harvard University (5 years). Dr. Meffert trained in Psychiatry (4 years) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and completed two subsequent year-long fellowships at UCSF—clinical (Forensic Psychiatry) and academic (research to provide mental health care for vulnerable populations). She joined the UCSF Psychiatry faculty in 2009, where she is now a Full Professor. Dr. Meffert has been treating psychiatry outpatients for over twenty years, including both clinical work at UCSF and in private practice.
Dr. Meffert has lived in the SF Bay Area for the majority of the past 30 years. In her spare time, she is an avid runner, equestrian, and enjoys playing outside with her children, husband and dog.
