Dr. Meffert uses her clinical knowledge to understand patients’ experiences and perspectives, and then collaborates with them to advance their mental health. As a seasoned psychiatrist and an accomplished physician-scientist, she deploys a wide array of evidence-based treatments, including medication, psychotherapy and thoughtful integration of procedural psychiatry (e.g., intranasal/IV ketamine). Her combined clinical and academic expertise and network of professional connections allow her to rapidly assess the many new psychiatric treatments now emerging.
Dr. Meffert enjoys working with a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including complex psychiatric conditions such as those occurring in the context of other medical disorders, requiring collaboration with other physicians, second opinions, consults or conditions not responsive to previous treatment(s).
Dr. Meffert’s knowledge of mental health trauma is particularly extensive, integrating many years of learning across the fields of psychiatry, anthropology, human rights, restorative justice, ethics, social/political/gender-based violence, and public health, among others. She has vast experience treating conditions related to mental health trauma across diverse backgrounds, including acute stress, posttraumatic-stress disorders (PTSD) and common comorbidities, such as anxiety, panic disorders, dissociation, trauma-informed relationship/life patterns and depression, including severe, recurrent depression and cases that have not responded to previous treatment.
